Envision Alvarado

Shaping the Future of Our City

At the April and June 2024 Visioning Workshops, the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Economic Development Corporation members identified five key priorities for Alvarado's future development. These priorities reflect our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and supporting sustainable growth.

Visioning Workshop
Expanding the Scope of Code Enforcement
Business Recruitment
Downtown Revitalization
Street Repair and Maintenance
Maintenance of City Infrastructure

Our Top 5 Priorities:

  1. Expanding the Scope of Code Enforcement: We aim to ensure Alvarado remains a safe and attractive place to live and work by expanding our code enforcement efforts. This initiative focuses on maintaining property standards and addressing issues related to safety, aesthetics, and community well-being.
  2. Business Recruitment: Our Economic Development team is actively working to attract new businesses to Alvarado. We are targeting a diverse range of industries, including retail, full-service restaurants, grocery stores, entertainment venues, and medical facilities. These efforts will create jobs and enhance the services available to our residents.
  3. Downtown Revitalization: Revitalizing Alvarado's historic downtown is a top priority. We plan to breathe new life into this area by procuring businesses, hosting events, showcasing public art, and creating vibrant activities. Our goal is to make downtown a fun and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
  4. Street Repair and Maintenance: The "Fix the Dang Roads" program, launched in 2022, is dedicated to renovating Alvarado's streets. We are committed to improving road quality, ensuring safer transportation, and enhancing connectivity throughout the city.
  5. Maintenance of City Infrastructure: As Alvarado grows rapidly, maintaining our city facilities and utility structures is critical. With thousands of new residents planning to move to Alvarado, we are focused on ensuring our infrastructure can support this growth while providing reliable services to our community.
