Water Billing

The Utility Billing Office is responsible for billing and collecting payment for water, sewer and garbage services.

The billing office is staffed by two full time clerks. They are always willing to answer any questions that you might have about your water bill or help you sign-up for new service.

We accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover and your bank debit card.

Water Bill Payment Opens in new window Do not use this option after the 25th or if your service has been disconnected. You must contact City Hall.

During regular business hours, you may also call this office at 817-790-3351, option 1, if you are having trouble with your water, sewer or garbage service. After regular business hours, you may call 817-301-4947. Public Works employees are on call to handle situations that cannot wait until normal business hours.

Notice

Anyone seeking an extension for their water bill payment must complete an extension form, sign, and turn it in to City Hall by the end of the business day (4 pm) on the last working day before cut-offs. Extension requests by phone will no longer be allowed. You may call City Hall at 817-790-3351, option 1, to obtain a form by mail, fax, or email or stop by City Hall to complete the form in person. Payment extension is made until the 3rd of the next month only.

Prairieland Groundwater District Fee

Utility bills are mailed out on the last day of every month and are due and payable by the 15th of the month. If the 15th is a Saturday, Sunday, or City holiday, the payment will be due before 4 pm the following business day. If for any reason you do not receive your utility bill by the 5th, you are responsible for contracting our office at 790-3351, option 1 before the 16th. A late charge of 10% will be added on the 16th(unless the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, then the fee will be added at the close of business the following business day) of each month for any amount unpaid. The City of Alvarado will cut off water services on the 26th of the month for any account not paid in full. A reconnection fee of $75 will be charged between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Reconnections will not be done after hours.

Payment Options

  • In-Person: Payment may be made inside City Hall at the Customer Service counter located at 104 W College from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, or debit cards.
  • By Mail: Make checks payable to the City of Alvarado, 104 W. College, Alvarado, TX 76009.
  • Drop Box: A 24 hour drop box is located on the east side of City Hall past the drive-in window.
  • Bank Drafts: To set up your account for bank draft, contact Customer Service at 817-790-3351, option 1.
